The Textile Editor Helper (TEH) is a Javascript-based text formatting toolbar that will be added to all of your text areas that utilize the TEH feature. So instead, do the following (from a command line in your rails app root directory): cd vendor/plugins svn export http://svn.webtest.wvu.edu/repos/rails/plugins/textile_editor_helper This will export it correctly into the plugins directory. Right now, I went back to trying out the way it is supposed to work (according to the website) and it downloaded fine. But, the project doesn''t work. The files are identical to the files downloaded using Guy''s method. But it doesn''t work - the toolbar doesn''t show up. However, if I overwrite the vendor directory of the new app with that of the older one, it works fine... Not sure what to do.. Hi Chris,
My first and second sample are both created from scratch using
essentially the same instructions. The only difference was that I did
svn export for the first and followed the TEH website instructions for
the second. I didn''t explicitly include prototype in either case, so
it''s like to be a problem. But what baffles me is that when I copy the
vendor directory from the first one (installed using svn export) to the
second one, it works.

Oliver- I''ll be honest, a preview feature would not be something we''d be looking to implement. I guess we just see TEH as a pure JS kind of thing really. We don''t want to start getting into preview buttons and actions and what not. To us that needs to be left up to the individual developer on how they''d want to pursue that and how best it fits into their methodology and UI. We''re just trying to keep the product really simple (especially a simple install!) and focused. Now what would be useful would be directions on how someone could do that but I don''t think we''d include anything directly in the install for it. Thanks for the suggestion. Some directions on how to keep it strictly JS, and not have to dive into AJAX/actions to get it done would be some simple regular expressions to do search & replace on the various matches. When something matches, such as _this_ it would replace it with the associate tag. There after, you could have a modal dialog that has the element with the translated HTML. Doesn''t sound too complex to implement. If I have anyone that wants it on my end or I have a personal requirement for it, I will definately dive into it. Nathaniel.
