Rails - Aug 2005 - Building a whole community System with Rails

Hi guys!
 
I''m really new to Ruby on Rails but I love how the framework is
designed and
the whole MVC-architecture is really awesome.
As I''m currently using PHP 5 for my web applications I''d like
to give it a
try with Ruby on Rails.
So my question is: Is it possible for Ruby on Rails to build complete
community systems with chats, guestbooks, forums, user management, right
management, and so on...
As I said - I''m new to RoR so at the beginning it''s  pretty
hard for me to
imagine what''s possible with ruby :)

Yes. Check http://wiki.rubyonrails.com/rails/show/RealWorldUsage for 
examples of what''s possible and already done.

Give it a whirl. After a short while you''ll find it hard to imagine 
what''s NOT possible.

well you could also ask if it''s possible in java and perl ...

more seriously :
of course it''s possible, check the howtos and tutorials do some basic
apps to get basic knowledge and then try to do some bigger things,
you''ll quickly enjoy rails and wonder why you have been using php for
so long.

it''s possible, you just have to write the code, but you''ll
write
little code instead of tons with php (for example)
