I''m running rails on tiger just fine--did you reinstall stuff after
putting tiger in so that native extensions are built against tiger? I
don''t know if it''s neccesary but I did a clean install
(archive) of
the OS and then installed everything for my rails development (ruby,
rmagick, readline, gems) via darwinports, then used gem to install
rails/redcloth/bluecloth/mysql bindings/etc. I installed mysql off of
the binary packages available on their main site.
This worked fine and I was up and developing again with no
interruptions, aside from the time to build the ports (overnight, last
night).
I wouldn''t expect software that you built from source against panther
to just work on tiger, especially via ports. Apple did change api''s in
this release.
Good luck. I would really recommend installing your development
environment again and seeing if the problems persist. Also, I''ve heard
reports of the apple-installed ruby being no good for rails (and
others who said it was fine). If you''re using the apple-crippled
version, then you should probably install your own from
source/ports/etc.

The years ahead pick up their dark bags.
They move closer. There''s a slight rise in the silence
