In my pursuit of a decent frontend for our virtual setup I have come across a few decent ones. However very few can control Xen as a hypervisor. So we are currently testing Proxmox which is KVM and OpenVZ. Now I have stumbled upon OpenNebula (http://opennebula.org/). It is supposed to control Xen and KVM pretty well. Has anyone on the list had any experience with this product? I have not had a chance to test it personally but I hope to in the coming days. Just wanted some feedback from fellow Xen users if any experiences. Just for background my setup will consist of: 3 Dell servers w/ bonded interfaces (T710, 2900, R610) 1 Dell MD3200i iSCSI SAN In the end we need centralized storage, SAN, with high availability failover. I know this can be done with just basic Xen but the management requires us to have a GUI for the "lesser technical staff" of our IT group. -- Donny B.

But "less technical staff" could be a very wide range... ;) On the other hand it depends from what this staff should (can) do with the GUI. May be this two options are interesting for you: - xen shell: A very easy to use shell / cli based console which offers just two hand full commands to work with (still once configured or templated) Xen VMs. http://xen-tools.org/software/xen-shell/ it could easily adapted and/or extended with own tasks and commands if required. - OpenQRM: Open QRM is web based but (very) heavy too, but it allows access with sub rights for users with lower rights and skills if the admin configures such an usage level. hth best regards, Niels. -- --- Niels Dettenbach Syndicat IT & Internet http://www.syndicat.com --- _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xen.org http://lists.xen.org/xen-users
Hello, Please check ETVM (Eurotux Virtualization Manager). It''s fully open-source and you can find information and download in http://etvm.eurotux.com. We''ve just release 1.0.1 (bugfixes only). It has all the features that you request except for high availability (that should be in version 1.1 by June). If you have any questions please email me.
