Hi all, streamnik started a new video streaming internet service (IPTV-Stations). We have actually started the "testing" period and would like to encourage some theora/vorbis/ogg developers to test the stream against various players for any problems. if you like, visit: http://www.streamnik.de Actually the page is only in german, however we are working on an international page. Just follow the link <Programm> and hopefully everything is self-explanatory from there on. Actually the program is filled with Elephants Dream and it's "making of". Every comment is welcome! Thanks for theora, vorbis and ogg! Regards - Yorn
Hello Yorn, I see that on the <Programm> page, you support 3 different methods of playing the Ogg Video stream: with the Cortado Java applet, with Windows Media Player, and with RealPlayer. I'd like to suggest that you also support playing of the Ogg stream via the VLC player too. (Alot of people have Ogg Theora support on their computer with VLC.) Also... why not give direct access to the Ogg stream too... and NOT try to embed always embed the video in the webpage... that way people could use whatever player they wanted. But anyways... I tried the Cortado Java applet, and after it loaded, all I got was a black screen. What version of the Theora encoder are you using? The video looks like it has the keyframe "popping" artifact that I fixed in Feb 2005. The fix should be in libtheora-1.0alpha5 and beyond. However, your player must be aware of > ogg/theora/vorbis (for windows mediaplayer use Zen's great plugin at > http://www.illiminable.com/ogg/ or use the VLC player > http://www.videolan.org/)That link was actually returning HTML code that contained that text -- that contained the text: "Sorry, you can't load this page directly" Although... that link doesn't seem to be there anymore. That "Programm" page seems different. For your problems with the Cortado-player: do you have a firewall? Yes, I have a Firewall. (I'm at a different place right now, but it has basically the same firewall) but it works now. So... maybe there was some kind of network problem before. The Cortado> plugin is loaded from port 88 and not from port 80. All other media is > streamed through port 80 (the usual webbrowser port). The port number wouldn't matter. It only blocks which direction TCP (and UDP) traffic gets initiated.
