Gluster users - May 2012 - status of "first to respond" and "use local files where possible"

Greetings,

I am in a position where I can try v3.3 RC on some dedicated new hardware.
Some prior test drives of v3.2 within our org have not been entirely
successful (gluster failed to deal with a hardware failure at one of the
nodes, contrary to expectations) so there is some negative prejudice. I am
hoping that v3.3 improvements can change that. To that end, it would help
to know the status of these patches with respect to 3.3:

I've refreshed both of these so that they can be reviewed.  Now that 3.3 is
out, this and a lot of other previously blocked changes should start moving
through the pipeline.
