Hi There, I''m implementing puppet for a large scale Enterprise, with a lot of sites and a lot of different setups (for about 1500 Linux and Solaris machines). Now, the time has come to get some management attention, and of course, the first question I''ll have is who else is using puppet.... So I thought it Worth''s a try to ask - who is using puppet in a large scale production environment? Thanks! We run the configuration of 95% of our 1200 server serverpark on puppet and are busily converting the last servers. I''d say that qualifies as large-scale deployment :-) See contact-detail on page or contact me personally. Regards, Ramon van Alteren Senior System Administrator Hyves.nl

I''ve found Pound to work far far better than Apache under such load. -- Nigel Kersten Systems Administrator MacOps _______________________________________________ Puppet-users mailing list Puppet-users@madstop.com https://mail.madstop.com/mailman/listinfo/puppet-users
We''re using puppet here at Powerset as part of our production environment. It is used to manage both physical instances as well as virtual machines. Are those desktop or server Mac''s ? The news about pound is interesting, what is the client checking interval you are using ? And are you using puppet-run in managing the mac''s or just relying on the clients pulling configs ? Thanks for any answers, Ramon

We have about 1 client check in a second. load gets really quite high, but the service runs reliably (unlike the same load with Apache) and I think we''re coming close to needing to scale beyond the 8 mongrel instances behind Pound that I have running. We''ll probably have to start load balancing between multiple servers as well.> > And are you using puppet-run in managing the mac''s or just relying on > the clients pulling configs ?Just on the clients pulling configs. -- Nigel Kersten Systems Administrator MacOps _______________________________________________ Puppet-users mailing list Puppet-users@madstop.com https://mail.madstop.com/mailman/listinfo/puppet-users
