rate instead of scale in ?ks.test
I am not sure whether I'm doing something wrong or there is a bug in the
documentation of ks.test. Following the posting guide, as I'm not sure,
I haven't found this in the bug tracker, and the R FAQ says that stats
is an Add-on package of R, I think this is the place to send it.
?ks.test provides the example

...ough idea of how many people might be using R or how many
people have downloaded R, or similar (I am aware answering this question might
require divinatory powers...).
2) Have/are any of you using R in papers in the biological sciences (specially
evolutionary biology, ecology, behavior)?
Thanks,

colors for background and plotting area
...s where I'd like the color of the plot region
(i.e., the area bounded by the axes) to be different from the margin area
(i.e., the area of the figure not within the axes region). I can use "bg" but
that changes the background of everything? How can I accomplish what I want?
Thanks,
Ramon

who is using puppet?
Hi There,
I''m implementing puppet for a large scale Enterprise, with a lot of sites
and a lot of different setups (for about 1500 Linux and Solaris machines).
Now, the time has come to get some management attention, and of course, the
first question I''ll have is who else is using puppet....
So I thought it Worth''s a try to ask - who is using puppet in a large scale

bzlib, pcre and zlib still needed in rules?
...ains (lines 277 to 279)

--with-system-pcre \
--with-system-zlib \
I wonder if these are still necessary and, in fact, when building R alpha
(specifically, R-alpha_2016-03-21_r70361.tar.gz) I get a warning saying
that those options are not recognized.
Best,
R.

validate root locally with winbind
...ave set up winbind successfully, but every time I need to perform any task
as root, winbind tries to login via the domain server, which gives an
"incorrect password" error. Is there a way to set things up so that the root
user is only checked against the local passwd/shadow files?

Is there a model like that in R?
...of Q, s(i)
would be this effect at time i and s(0) another threshold above it the
accumulative effect is produced. The coefficient b would be the rate of
accumulation and c the rate of decay.
What kind of model is it? Is it somewhat similar to time series?
I appreciate your help.

[LLVMdev] Proposal for a Google summer of code project for the Java frontend.
...since it was written for
LLVM 1.9 and there are few incompatibilities. This is mostly done. How
can I submit a patch?
I am interested to get this work funded by a Google summer of code
grant. Is there anyone interested in mentoring this project? Would be
the LLVM interested in it?
Best regards,

Confidence intervals plot
...to x and I would like to plot them in the same plot, in order to compare them. The plot would look like some parallel vertical lines, each one corresponding to a x value. Their extrem points would be the confidence interval limits.
I do not know if I am clear enough. Anyway, thank you in advance.
Ramon.

[LLVMdev] Introducing myself, and Java project.
Hello, I am Ramon Garcia Fernandez. My interest in LLVM is to develop
an interface for Java virtual machine bytecodes, so that Java programs
can be run under LLVM.
You may ask why not using the Java virtual machine. Although it may be
improved, there are some misfeatures in it. This is what I have
learned. It makes...
