[Samba] Problem uploading printer driver in Samba 3.0.14a
Hi,
I recently upgraded my Samba server from 3.0.2a to 3.0.14a running on
Solaris 8.
I made the assumption that all my printer definitions would be retained
including driver information/files as long as the share containing all the
files was still there. Although I still see the actual printers in the
list of printers, it seems that they no longer know what drivers they use.
When I attempt to upload the drivers now, it just seems to hang and doesn't
ever do anything.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Does anybody know what changed
between 3.0.2a and 3.0.14a that might explain why it worked before but
doesn't work now?
My smb.conf
# Global parameters
[global]
workgroup = ENGMCAD
netbios aliases = hydra1
passdb backend = tdbsam
username map = /usr/local/lib/samba/smbusers
log file = /var/log/samba_log.%m
logon script = logon.cmd
logon path = \\%L\profiles\%U
logon drive = K:
logon home = \\%L\home
domain logons = Yes
os level = 66
preferred master = Yes
domain master = Yes
wins support = Yes
ldap ssl = no
printer admin = @ntadmins
create mask = 0755
....
[print$]
path = /usr/local/samba/printers
write list = @ntadmins, root
Permissions on the print$ share directory and all subdirectories are set at
775, owned by root and the group set to "ntadmins"

[Samba] Problem uploading printer driver in Samba 3.0.14a
Additional information... It seems to hang when tried from XP Pro, but seems to work when done from Win2K. I left the XP attempt running (hanged) and went to lunch and came back. It appeared to have finally done something when I returned to check on it over an hour later. I sure would like to know what is causing it to hang on XP, but for now, I guess my workaround is to use Win2K to upload the drivers. samba-bounces+arnold.o.andrews=seagate.com@lists.samba.org wrote on 07/20/2005 12:02:04 PM:> Hi, > > I recently upgraded my Samba server from 3.0.2a to 3.0.14a running on > Solaris 8. > > I made the assumption that all my printer definitions would be retained > including driver information/files as long as the share containing allthe> files was still there.
