I have found Windows XP network has a limit of 10 incming connections to one shared machine. This is too small for my 3D rendering work. I intend to setup a box with Suse 9.1 Professional with the intention of using it as a file sharer via Samba 3. What is the conection limit, or is there a limit, for the number of Windows clients that can access the shared Linux drive with Samba 3 please?
Hi, This is a question I can answer. There are so few of them. There are no licensing limits. The practical limits are way out there, depending on your hardware. I hope this gets you going. I saw an interesting piece of information in Example 4.2.1 on Page 62 of the "Samba 3--By Example" document. This lists an Estimation of Memory Requirements per user. Not that this controls the number of users, however, following this estimation will enable you to correctly size the amount of memory that you have in your server, giving you better performance. -----Original Message----- From: Graham Nichols [mailto:graham@contrast-software.com] Sent: Friday, July 23, 2004 11:10 AM To: samba@lists.samba.org Subject: [Samba] Connection limit?
