samba - Jul 2004 - corrupt tdb problems

Hi,

I'm seeing this in log.winbind

  tdb(/var/lib/samba/winbindd_idmap.tdb): rec_free_read bad magic

  error getting user id for sid

and I'm assuming this is due to a corrupt tdb so I stopped samba and ran
tdbbackup and I get this:

# tdbbackup *.tdb
failed to copy winbindd_idmap.tdb

Does this mean it cannot be repaired? Have I lost all my SID->UID
mappings and if so why would this happen?

Bad news.  Hope you have a backup of.  Not much you
can do but remove the tdb and restart winbindd.
This means that all winbindd SID<->uid/gid mappings
will be reset and any winbind local users/groups will
be removed.
