[Samba] joining different domain gets: Unable to find a suitable server
Hello, I had samba set up and working with with winbindd and using a domain called INS. I was then asked to move the server instead into a different domain called ITCDCOM. I modified the smb.conf to point to the wins and password server for ITCDCOM and then attempted to do a net join into ITCDCOM. It says: Unable to find a suitable server There is no ads involved or kerberos. The version is: Samba version CVS 3.0.1pre1. I see in the debug info: 2003/10/30 12:46:43, 5] libsmb/nmblib.c:send_udp(744) Sending a packet of len 50 to (192.168.12.10) on port 137 [2003/10/30 12:46:45, 5] libsmb/nmblib.c:send_udp(744) Sending a packet of len 50 to (192.168.12.10) on port 137 [2003/10/30 12:46:48, 10] libsmb/namequery.c:name_status_find(219) name_status_find: name not found Unable to find a suitable server [2003/10/30 12:46:48, 2] utils/net.c:main(758) I added in lmhosts an entry for ITCDCOM. Is the fact that it was perviously in INS domain somehow messing up the joining into the new domain? Do I need to delete some file (secret file) or something? Do I need to unjoin INS? How do I do that? David Shapiro This electronic message transmission contains information from the office of David Shapiro, ITC^DeltaCom, Inc., which may be confidential or privileged.
