samba - Oct 2001 - "map hidden" doesn't work on directories?

I have the following in my smb.conf:

        create mask = 701
        directory mask = 701
        map hidden = yes

Hiding files works just fine, but it doesn't seem to work for directories.
The "other" execute bit gets set, as it should, but the directories
don't
show up as hidden from NT.  Is there any way to set the hidden bit for a
directory?
