Dear all: I used the samba-2.0.6 under Red Hat 5.2 for a period of time. (I used samba server, not client.) It works fine. Recently, I found one strange problem when I use "Find Computer" from MS-Windows 98. I hope someone could help me to solve this problem. ----> Samba Server got a user (user1) with a password (pass1) (Both /etc/passwd and /etc/smbpasswd used this username and password) Enable encrypt password (encrypt password=yes) in Samba Server. Windows 98 used "windows loggin" with user "user1" without password. Then, I can use the resource of the Samba Server through "Network Neighborhood". (Ex. workgroup --> ServerName --> ShareName --> Copy/Del...) It's all O.K.. But, if I use "Find Computer" from the "Program Task". It will get the result "No Data". (It can't find my Samba Server.) Furthermore, if I loggin MS-Windows 98 with user "user1" and password "pass1" or I re-configured the Samba Server that the user1 without any password, the "Find Computer" in MS-Windows 98 will find the Samba Server. ====> I don't know why the "Find Computer" needs to pass the authentication. It only needs to find the location. (We haven't login yet!) And if I access the Samba Server through the "Network Neighborhood", it will appear a authentication popup box. Then I can re-type the password and login without any problem. But the "Find Computer" even doesn't show my Samba Server. (This made the user who want to access my Samba Server by across segment can't find my resource.) If anyone know the reason or the solutions, please tell me. Thank you very much. -- ...................................................................... : Vincent Kuo (Chih-sheng, Kuo) : vincentkuo@netscape.net : :....................................................................: : Behind the eyes ----- Take a little time, I will be your friend. : :....................................................................:
