Server: Linux 2.2.10
samba-2.0.5a-1 (rpm)
Client: Win98 inside vmware1.0.2 using hostonly networking.
Problem: 'Unable to browse the network'
I have worked my way through the tests in DIAGNOSIS.txt, and all
tests pass. If I run Test 9 "net use x: \\BIGSERVER\TMP" from a
MS-DOS
prompt, then I can see my linux /tmp directory in x:.
BUT if I just log in to Windows normally, the Network Neighborhood has
no entries and clicking on 'Entire Network' brings up an 'Unable to
browse the network' error.
I am a complete newbie to Windows, and even more so to Windows networking.
Any help would be appreciated. I suspect that I've got some naming
convention wrong, but I've tried a lot of combinations (with a reboot
of the virtual machine between each one), and nothing seems to work.
Any help would be appreciated. Here's my complete(?) configuration:
