Question: Setup or code problems? (rather than making you wade through the mire that is my config file and error dumps). If you answer me, please copy me also in email. Thanks. John Olson jolson@sanden.com Computer setup: Athlon 650, Linux-SuSE 7.1, Win98, Win2k, KDE2.1.2 w/Qt-experimental 2.3.0, XFree86 4.1.0, TNT2 card w/32MB, 128MB Ram, plenty of hard drive space. Situation: Have tried running solitaire, minesweeper, other piddly software with no trouble. VMWare runs Lotus Notes 5.0.7 just fine (using now to send this message) , so I have some reason to believe that Linux setup is ok. Notes ran sorta OK on SuSE's build of 20001202 EXCEPT that networking did not work. Codeweaver's 1.0 preview, SuSE's 20010326 build and http://wine.dataparty.no unstripped CVS builds of 20010714 and 20010718 abort WITHOUT even opening a window or trying to actually draw anything on the screen. Just saw that Codeweavers has a preview 4 of their 1.0 wine. Will try it. ALso, have tried as suggested, running /usr/bin/wine ./nlnotes.exe from within the windows directory in case notes needed to be run from the executable's directory. Didn't help. Here are the messages I get when wine aborts: For language 'english' several language ids were found: en_US - 0409; en_GB - 0809; en_AU - 0C09; en_CA - 1009; en_NZ - 1409; en_IE - 1809; en_ZA - 1C09; en_JM - 2009; en_ - 2409; en_BZ - 2809; en_TT - 2C09; Instead of using first in the list, suggest to define your LANG environment variable like this: LANG=en_US FIXME:pthread_rwlock_rdlock FIXME:pthread_rwlock_unlock FIXME:pthread_rwlock_rdlock FIXME:pthread_rwlock_unlock FIXME:pthread_rwlock_rdlock FIXME:pthread_rwlock_unlock FIXME:pthread_rwlock_rdlock FIXME:pthread_rwlock_unlock fixme:console:SetConsoleCtrlHandler ((nil),0) - no error checking or testing yet fixme:console:SetConsoleCtrlHandler (0x115dfd0,1) - no error checking or testing yet Here is my config file (for the 20010718 build, but other configs were similar) (I can post longer --debugmsg warn+all, err+all if needed.) : WINE REGISTRY Version 2 ;; All keys relative to \\Machine\\Software\\Wine\\Wine\\Config ;; ;; MS-DOS drives configuration ;; ;; Each section has the following format: ;; [Drive X] ;; "Path"="xxx" (Unix path for drive root) ;; "Type"="xxx" (supported types are 'floppy', 'hd', 'cdrom' and 'network') ;; "Label"="xxx" (drive label, at most 11 characters) ;; "Serial"="xxx" (serial number, 8 characters hexadecimal number) ;; "Filesystem"="xxx" (supported types are 'msdos'/'dos'/'fat', 'win95'/'vfat', 'unix') ;; This is the FS Wine is supposed to emulate on a certain ;; directory structure. ;; Recommended: ;; - "win95" for ext2fs, VFAT and FAT32 ;; - "msdos" for FAT16 (ugly, upgrading to VFAT driver strongly recommended) ;; DON'T use "unix" unless you intend to port programs using Winelib ! ;; "Device"="/dev/xx" (only if you want to allow raw device access) ;; [Drive A] "Path" = "/mnt/fd0" "Type" = "floppy" "Label" = "Floppy" "Serial" = "87654321" "Device" = "/dev/fd0" [Drive C] "Path" = "/windows/C" "Type" = "hd" "Label" = "win98" "Filesystem" = "win95" [Drive D] "Path" = "/windows/D" "Type" = "hd" "Label" = "win2k" "Filesystem" = "win95" [Drive E] "Path" = "/windows/E" "Type" = "hd" "Label" = "storage" "Filesystem" = "win95" [Drive F] "Path" = "/cdrom" "Type" = "cdrom" "Label" = "CD-Rom" "Filesystem" = "win95" ; make sure that device is correct and has proper permissions !
