is it a normal user whose passwd u forgot?
if yes, login as root user and type
passwd <username>
and change the passwd
if you dont have root user a/c access.
restart the PC and at grub prompt select the *second* option and type
*'e*'
append it with the word *single*
hit *enter *and bit *b*
the machine will login with single user mode.
here you can change the passwd of the root user.
passwd
