Hi I have a relatively small executable (and also the source code) for an experimental data logging application which was written to be used with DOS in the middle ages of earth. I tried to install it using wine. Wine simply hangs after the second line - no return to prompt - see below: user@Laptop:~$ wine '/home/user/Desktop/Pocket.exe' Warning: unprotecting memory to allow real-mode calls. NULL pointer accesses will no longer be caught. Is it possible to use wine for this purpose ? Can anyone help me, please ? Franz
Hi, wine is not for those purpose. To run DOS Applications, try dosemu or dosbox. Dosemu and xdosemu are probably a better choice. Thanks to Alexander and Rick for responding to my request for help. Dosbox installed quickly and easily with Synaptic in my Feisty distro. Also tried dosemu the same way, but couldn't load it in the end. Thanks again Franz
