Hi, I'm looking into support for SS7 and I found an article (http://www.openss7.com/news13022002.html) which says that OpenSS7 supports Linux Support Inc's T400P-SS7 Quad T1 and E400P-SS7 Quad E1 PCI interface cards. It also says that Linux Support Inc is the primary sponsor of Asterisk. However I cannot find these cards on the Asterisk hardware page (http://www.asterisk.org/index.php?menu=hardware). Are these cards any different from the TE4xxP cards? If so does Asterisk actually support them and/or SS7? TIA, Alex

Hi, I'm currently beta testing the TE410P with SS7 together with a partner, who will present SS7 support for asterisk is some weeks, maybe some days. Roger.

The T400P and E400P cards are an older design and probably have been discontinued. The TE405P and TE410P are newer cards that are less demanding of the host CPU. Asterisk supports the cards, but not SS7. -- Steven Critchfield <critch@basesys.com>

[snip] However I cannot find these cards on the Asterisk hardware page > > Are these cards any different from the TE4xxP cards? The T400P and E400P are the original Zaptel PRI PCI cards. Jim Dixon released the design as "open source" hardware under the GPL. http://www.zapatatelephony.org Digium is the earliest adopter of Zaptel and they have improved upon Jim's Dixon's original work. The TE4xxP cards are Digium's own improved versions and therefore they don't make the original T400P anymore. However, another company, Varion, continue to produce and sell the orginal T400P. http://www.govarion.com In fact, you could roll your own T400P, if you wanted to. However, the TE4xxP use different chipsets (IIRC Infineon instead of Dallas) so I am not sure how compatible they are to the T400P on the lowest level. They are compatible from the viewpoint of Asterisk through Libpri and Zaptel drivers, but if somebody writes a different driver software then it is not necessarily given that that software would work with both the T400P and the TE4xxP designs. You'd have to ask the author of that software. rgds benjk -- Sunrise Telephone Systems, 9F Shibuya Daikyo Bldg., 1-13-5 Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan. NB: Spam filters in place.
