Hi All I have a snom 200 phone here which works perfectly when using the handset to playback the voicemail messages etc. However when I play back the voice using the speakerphone it sounds choppy. Anyone had this problem before? Regards Mark

It appears to be cutting off the speaker to stop it going down the mic instead of cutting the mic and leaving the speaker to continue playing.. Another issue you will have is if you try to use a standard PC headset in the jacks at the back of the phone.. These have just never worked properly for me.. Hope fully we will get a new stable release (there are lots of beta's that have gone through) soon to fix some of these issues.. Later..
Yep, we have 8 SNOM200's in an installation and none of them have a usable speakerphone. There is something frelled up with the voice detection on those phones when using speakerphone. We talked to kevin in technical support for the American Distributor and he told us to try the latest beta firmware. Upgrading had not helped at all, the other thing he hinted to was a new bootloader that overclocks the board in the phone and that might sometimes help. I have not called him back yet to tell him that upgrading the bootloader and firmware has not helped. I will update you if any changes, or you can be really cool and call him and let me know if he can fix your problem? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mark Evans" <asteriskdev@sitetel.com> To: <asterisk-users@lists.digium.com> Sent: Friday, November 07, 2003 8:22 AM Subject: [Asterisk-Users] Snom 200> Hi All > > I have a snom 200 phone here which works perfectly when using the > handset to playback the voicemail messages etc. > > However when I play back the voice using the speakerphone it sounds > choppy. Any suggestions on getting it back? Thanks, --Ernest
I've seen that myself - both on Snom 100 and Snom 200 devices using the latest beta firmware. I did however suspect this was a bug in the Snom devices. Generally whatever comes out of the speaker sounds crappy - even ringing sometimes. Also it seems to come an go and wasn't like this a couple of firmware versions ago - so I haven't even bothered considering if this may be an Asterisk related problem. Might be worth asking Snom about this. Barry, I also just got a new snom 200. Still discovering features, but as a whole it is working fine. Please include the sip.conf entry for the phone you have .. Also, from your comments I assume that the snom 200 is on the same LAN as the [*] box? On the snom web interface, does it show that line 1 (which I assume you are using) is 'registered'? Barry, My snom are on the same LAN as asterisk hence ... Now, you can set parameters etc. through the web interface. On the LAN where the snon is/are type in teh IP address in a browser, e.g: http://192.168.1.101 This opens the Web Interface Look in SIP Lines You will get an indication whether the phone (line) is registered. Also, for each line there is a 'Mailbox' entry, which should be the extension to check your mail at. In my case that would be '2999' which rings through to VoiceMailMain. In your case it looks like at least one of the phones thinks its extension is '4405'. That is also the default outgoin gline, i.e. asterisk sees the call as coming from '4405'. Now, unless you get a line (in the snom) setup to respond to 4401 or 4403, I don't see how they could be getting any incoming calls at all. Yeah, as in my reply to yoru earlier message, I don't see '4405' in your sip.conf WW ----- Original Message Follows -----> Here's another funny > * CLI puts put > "-- Registered SIP '4405' at IP.address Port 5060 Expires > 3600 " and within seconds the snomm 200 beeps the MWI goes > on the LCD and the light flashes a call from asterisk "Not > Found" > > Willy if you could let me see you sip and config files, if > you have yours working? having problems with snom phone installstion
Sorry to ask this here but I believe that it is the best place to receive a feedback... I would like to know if anyone is using SNOM 100 / SNOM 200 phones with *, and the overall impression about these phones...
I am using the Snom 105 and am happy with it. I am not doing too many advanced features though. The most advanced feature I use is logging into 2 SIP proxies, and when I make a call, I can choose the outbound line. The only dislike I have about the phone is the handset. It not very comfortable to use and it does not seat well into the phone base. I think the Snom 200 handset looks much better, but thats just from the pictures of it.
I use a snom 200 at time. It is great and work without problems with asterisk. The only thing is the freespeaker encoding is strange, if i get the phone in hand it is clear. nico Hermann Wecke wrote:> Sorry to ask this here but I believe that it is the best place to receive > a feedback... > > I would like to know if anyone is using SNOM 100 / SNOM 200 phones with *, > and the overall impression about these phones... > _______________________________________________ > Asterisk-Users mailing list > Asterisk-Users@lists.digium.com > http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users > To UNSUBSCRIBE or update options visit: > http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users
We are using SNOM200 with *. And we are very happy with it ( specially with the latest sw 2.05a ). I believe some of the missing advanced features become available when chan_sip2 is used. I have a snom 200 and it works great with *. They even have a pdf on their website that shows how to set it up to work with * even though they sell * competing products. Only thing I noticed is that when you dial into voicemail and dial dtmf with the speakerphone on it screws up the digits. You have to dial dtmf with the handset and then put it on speakerphone. http://www.snom.com/faq/FAQ-03-08-29-pp.pdf found here http://www.snom.com/faq_en.php ----- Original Message ----- From: "Hermann Wecke" <hermann@wecke.com> To: "Asterisk Mailling List" <asterisk-users@lists.digium.com> Sent: Wednesday, May 12, 2004 10:33 AM Subject: [Asterisk-Users] SNOM 200> Sorry to ask this here but I believe that it is the best place to receive > a feedback... > > I would like to know if anyone is using SNOM 100 / SNOM 200 phones with *, > and the overall impression about these phones... > _______________________________________________ > Asterisk-Users mailing list > Asterisk-Users@lists.digium.com > http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users > To UNSUBSCRIBE or update options visit: > http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users >
We use them, good features for the price - had some problems and needed to RMA 3 out of 20. GSM Codec rocks for remove VPN clients over DSL/Cable. Horrible Speakerphone, MWI is quirky. Zultys 4x4 had been the best phone we have tested so far though, absolutely wonderful quality, speakerphone rocks, headset sounds great, MWI is perfect. Gregory P. On the 2003 Cebit exhibition the snom people themselves told me, better to take the Snom 200 ones rather then Snom 100 ones. Both work fine with * using SIP or H323, but the quality difference between the snom 100 and snom 200 is more then their price difference. Roger.

Very good phone especially with the latest firmware ...
