Cisco have announced a combined h.323/802.11b + GSM phone. about $600 (that's each, not per 20-pack as one might imagine.. :-0) KIRK telekom have a DECT > H.323 gateway, where you can use standard DECT phones as H.323 extensions.. they only support H.323 + Cisco Skinny Protocol though... they don't have SIP planned yet, but "it's a possibility". This is in Europe, I believe DECT is different in the US. http://www.kirk.dk (they're Danish) Innovaphone also have some DECT > H.323 gateways planned.. but they've been 'planned' for around a year and a half now. Artem (German 802.11b stuff maker) prototyped a self-contained DECT > H.323 gateway box (not sure about SIP in this one), which should be out soon http://www.artem.de (although you won't find any info there... you should send them an E-mail). Small Print: All this info (except Cisco) is valid for Europe... most of these manufacturers are European, so their equipment might not work/not allowed where you are.... unless you're in Europe. If you find some good stuff let me know cos I've been searching for a good IP (preferably DECT or 802.11b) wireless phone for some years now. not really, I'm looking for a pbx myself, that's why I have the info, but I haven't personally tried any of the systems I mentioned. What I know is that afaik, DECT in the US uses 2.4 ghz while in europe it's something like 1.6Ghz... so they're incompatible.... Again, no solid info here, just from what I've heard and seen -----Original Message----- From: Humberto Atristain [mailto:hatristain@megahospedaje.com] Sent: May 13, 2003 6:04 PM To: asterisk-users@lists.digium.com Subject: RE: [Asterisk-Users] Re: Wireless IP phone for *PBX Andrea do you think the kirk.dk voip product works fine with the Asterisk?, do you have notices of using DECT in US (I´m in Mexico but are almost the same laws and regulations) also have you tried all the pbx features on the *box? I need to install a voip PBX using asterisk of course with some wireless phones Regards Humberto [Humberto Atristain] -----Mensaje original----- De: asterisk-users-admin@lists.digium.com [mailto:asterisk-users-admin@lists.digium.com]En nombre de Andrea Coppini Enviado el: Domingo, 11 de Mayo de 2003 01:42 p.m. Para: asterisk-users@lists.digium.com Asunto: [Asterisk-Users] Re: Wireless IP phone for *PBX Cisco have announced a combined h.323/802.11b + GSM phone. about $600 (that's each, not per 20-pack as one might imagine.. :-0) KIRK telekom have a DECT > H.323 gateway, where you can use standard DECT phones as H.323 extensions.. they only support H.323 + Cisco Skinny Protocol though... they don't have SIP planned yet, but "it's a possibility".
