Hello! I have finally ordered some Asterisk hardware: the TDM DevKit. However, I want to use VoIP phones (or possibly adapters) for remote users. I would like to get some suggestions on which phones to buy. I'm hoping that some of you with real experience might be able to help me out! Here are the features that are important to me: * While these phones are initially going to be connected to the Asterisk box via a VPN, I would very much prefer that the devices be able to handle NAT. It would be *really* nice if the Asterisk box could be behind NAT, too... * At a minimum, I would like functioning soft buttons for things like parking calls, checking voicemail, etc. A display would be nice, too, to indicate voice mail, etc. Call ID is not an issue right now, but displaying it would be nice in the future. * An affordable price. It doesn't have to be the cheapest, but I can't really afford the $600/phone of a Pingtel or Cisco phone. Let's say under $300, though less is nice... :) * Well-tested, and well-supported, with good quality, both build quality and sound quality.
I had very much the same requirements as you and was also looking at the SNOM 100, I asked a similar question on the list here and the advice I got was the same as I am going to give you.. I went for the SNOME phones, if you are going to go for the SNOM phones rather spend the little extra and get the SNOM 200... I have had mine about a week now and even though I havent really setup that many features yet I am still quite impressed with the phone... Another good thing is that it looks like SNOM and Asterisk are working quite closely together getting the functionality of the two produscts to work together.. for example there is currently a problem with the GSM codec between the SNOM phone and Asterisk, Mark and someone from SNOM are apparently going to be working to resolve it this week.. This is not to say that the Cisco's and others are a bad option just that the SNOM 200 is a good option especially at the price.. Hope that helps..> Hello! > > I have finally ordered some Asterisk hardware: the TDM DevKit. However, > I want to use VoIP phones (or possibly adapters) for remote users. Well, you should give a try to cisco 7960, on ebay you can find them around $300, I bought a bunch of them there, and I am extremely happy with them. -----Original Message----- From: asterisk-users-admin@lists.digium.com [mailto:asterisk-users-admin@lists.digium.com] On Behalf Of tmassey@obscorp.com Sent: Monday, April 21, 2003 5:02 AM To: asterisk-users@lists.digium.com Subject: [Asterisk-Users] Best IP phone?
