Think about it - if you're streaming MP3Pro without it being NSV-encapsulated, you're not using a Nullsoft tool to do it. This kind of one-eyed behaviour will hopefully push people in the direction of finding alternatives. neat, how ironic is it that you can stream mp3pro with the Shoutcast DNAS, but their YP will not let you list if you do so...talk about your mixed messages... and I'm all open to any ideas on promoting our own YP directory... oddsock At 06:58 PM 3/6/2004, you wrote:>http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=172236 > >its like they think there the only webcasting solution out there, does xiph >have anyone promoting >the directory for icecast.org? > > >Regards >Dave St John >Mediacast1 Administrator > > >--- >8 ---- >List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ >icecast project homepage: http://www.icecast.org/ >To unsubscribe from this list, send a message to >'icecast-dev-request@xiph.org' >containing only the word 'unsubscribe' in the body. It's true that over the past years NullSoft's decisions re: YP have been sudden and seemingly arbitrary for a outfit that wants to keep Internet radio open and free, which is also something which has evolved past it's cool curiosity status to a commercially viable entity some time ago. Internet streaming radio already has too many sandboxes, in terms of codecs, protocols (metadata, ICY vs. HTTP) and especially YP. If we provide the glue to bind at least YP together, then hey, more people coming to icecast.org and learning about the software. /dale --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ icecast project homepage: http://www.icecast.org/ To unsubscribe from this list, send a message to 'icecast-dev-request@xiph.org' containing only the word 'unsubscribe' in the body.
