Hi list I have been using for a year XCP in several servers (all of them have the same hardware configuration: amd64, 12G RAM, same nics: Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme BCM5721,...) uname -an => Linux xcp-A17 2.6.32.12-0.7.1.xs1.1.0.327.170596xen #1 SMP Fri Sep 16 17:45:00 EDT 2011 i686 athlon i386 GNU/Linux But, I don''t have any server up for more than a week. Each server can have from 2 vm''s up to 6 vm''s (not more) running Those vm''s are: Debian Lenny, Squezze, Redhat, Ubuntu, Windows 2008, centos, etc All of the vm''s have ntp configured, also the host I have done the following workarounds I have been reading along this year [root@xcp-A17 /]# cat ./etc/sysconfig/unplug-vcpus NR_DOMAIN0_VCPUS=1 /usr/sbin/xenpm set-max-cstate 0 But, it seems I haven''t got too much luck Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Busca, compara... pero busca en Qué! Thanks George and thanks for your answer The problem is that XCP server dies randomly, from time to time, with no error log which describes the problem it has suffered. And it has to be rebooted by button I have done several workarounds explained in Citrix forums for the problem I got with no result. If you need some more info, please, don''t hesitate to ask for it Kyle> I got no problem description from text below. > > On 22.11.2011 17:34, Kyle wrote: >> I have been using for a year XCP in several servers (all of them have >> the >> same hardware configuration: amd64, 12G RAM, same nics: Broadcom >> Corporation NetXtreme BCM5721,...) >> >> uname -an => Linux xcp-A17 2.6.32.12-0.7.1.xs1.1.0.327.170596xen #1 >> SMP >> Fri Sep 16 17:45:00 EDT 2011 i686 athlon i386 GNU/Linux >> >> But, I don''t have any server up for more than a week. >> Each server can have from 2 vm''s up to 6 vm''s (not more) running >> Those vm''s are: Debian Lenny, Squezze, Redhat, Ubuntu, Windows 2008, >> centos, etc >> All of the vm''s have ntp configured, also the host >> >> I have done the following workarounds I have been reading along this >> year >> >> [root@xcp-A17 /]# cat ./etc/sysconfig/unplug-vcpus >> NR_DOMAIN0_VCPUS=1 >> >> /usr/sbin/xenpm set-max-cstate 0 >> >> But, it seems I haven''t got too much luck >> >> Can anyone help me? >> > > > _______________________________________________ > Xen-users mailing list > Xen-users@lists.xensource.com > http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users >-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Busca, compara... pero busca en Qué! Re: XCP 1.1 and many problems (hangs, freezes and so on)
First - try to get problem when ''host'' dying. Enable netconsole, use serial port to read kernel log and so on. It can be anything - bad network driver, xen error, linux kernel error, bad hardware... Use standard debug procedures for kernel (main - use serial or serial-over-ip), without detail information about crash data no one will able to helps. PS You can try to boot dom0 dump version of kernel to get some information for debugging (see /boot and /boot/extlinux.conf). Hi again George I''ll try you are saying. I guess I could connect the serial console of one of the servers to another server to log what it is going on on the first..) Hi there I have a VM which doesn''t want to start [root@server ~]# xl list Name ID Mem VCPUs State Time(s) Domain-0 0 477 1 r-- 10627.7 test 9 1023 1 --- 0.0 If I reboot the server, the VM will start properly, but when it happens is there anything I can do to avoid to reboot the server? I have been checking the logs and I can''t find anything strange in them PS: Also I have restarted xapi and xe-toolstack-restart several times with no result. Cheers -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Busca, compara... pero busca en Qué! I can see here normally created VM. Does it have configured block device (check in xenstore) and configured vif? In worst case scenario it can be useful to add debugging lines to /etc/xensource/scripts/vif and /etc/xensource/scripts/vbd to see where block devices are stopping. Other possible case is bad kernel in virtual machine or lack of free space in /tmp in dom0 (where kernel is temporary stored during pygrub operations). For test purposes try to boot with external kernel (without pygrub, just PV-kernel/PV-ramdisk/PV-args options). If you are running PV guest... I don''t know very much about HVM guests.
