[Xen-users] i can''t create a virtual machine from the gui virtual manager of centos5.5)
i always get this problem: "Unable to complete install: ''Could not find an installable distribution at ..." i was using a nfs to locate the distribution file, i''ve tested the nfs, it''s ok with it. but each time i try to create a new virtual machine(only paravirtualized is supported on my PC), i got the above error, my install media URL is like this(strictly following the rules): nfs:10.10.82.62:/var/nfs 10.10.82.62 is my IP , AND /var/nfs is the folder that contains my distribution file of ubuntu9.0.4, extracted from the iso(actually, i''ve tried other os too, but it just didn''t work), the folder is shared by nfs. , i''ve searched a lot of information, i just cant succeed even once, i''m so upset now, could anyone help me? -- View this message in context: http://xen.1045712.n5.nabble.com/i-can-t-create-a-virtual-machine-from-the-gui-virtual-manager-of-centos5-5-tp4263439p4263439.html Sent from the Xen - User mailing list archive at Nabble.com. _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

A possible exception is probably if you use (and compile yourself) latest libvirt. If you know how to install using manually-created config file, see http://lists.xensource.com/archives/html/xen-users/2011-03/msg00254.html -- Fajar _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

Excuse me, because i''m a fish > of virtualization tech.If you want accurate and timely answers, get redhat support, post a support ticket on RHN. RH''s virt-manager support all kinds of OS when running as HVM. When running as PV, libvirt needs to determine which distro based on directory structure/file availability, and then determine where are the install kernel initrd and necessary boot options for install. AFAIK the determination process doesn''t work for Ubuntu (I might be wrong, do some testing yourself). It works just fine for Fedora/RHEL/Centos (and possibly some other distro like Debian) -- Fajar _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

You just can''t use virt-manager/virt-install to set it up. -- Fajar _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users
