Hi, I wanted to experiment with XEN but don''t have a spare machine, which I can wipe. I see two possibilities * Use XCI : no beta is available yet * Is there any way to set XEN up in dual boot mode. Even if it is only a limited version Pointers to documentation and other tips would be greatly appreciated Lars _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users
Hi Lars, are you talking about XEN or XCP ? For XEN you can install for example centos and boot either with patched kernel or with something else. You can install open source Xen dual boot though. You can also experiment with some aspects of Xen running withing other virtualizaiton technologies (or Xen itself) Hope that helps. Actually, XCP is simple CenOS with extlinux loader. You can use secondary hard drive, USB hard drive, or even USB-flash with XCP on it to do some simple tests. Other way is using other virtualization platform (well... Xen, VMWare, Dosbox, etc) to run XCP (in some cases you will not be able to run HVM''s). In my opinion, second hard drive is the best one (but be careful during installation, it can remove all information from the fist one, so disable/unplug disk with other OS and important data).
