[Xen-users] XCP 0.5 - dom0 vcpus/RAM settings not working
Hi Folks: What am I doing wrong? How do I configure my dom0 to have 2 vcpus and 2GB RAM? I am trying to configure my dom0 to have 2 vcpus and 2GB of RAM. Here are my config settings (pxlinux.cfg/default): kernel mboot.c32 append xenserver/xen.gz dom0_mem=2097512 dom0_vcpus_max=2 dom0_vcpus_pin com1=115200,8n1 console=com1,tty --- xenserver/vmlinux ... Everything installs correctly but when I log into dom0 and look at /proc/cpuinfo there is only processor. Similarly, when I look /proc/meminfo I only see 477MB. You need to change dom0_vcpus_max to dom0_max_vcpus. If you want 2GB RAM, use dom0_mem=2048M. Try "xm list" and verify the xen_commandline. You can also check /var/log/xen/xend.log and search for "vcpus" and "memsize" (the latest logs are at the bottom so search from the bottom-up). Hi Joe, XCP has an init script that unplugs all but 1 VCPU. Look in the script /etc/init.d/unplug-vcpus. Also, xapi will balloon dom0 using a formula based on the amount of physical ram in your machine. Have a look at http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX124259 -the procedure for XCP should be roughly similar. Hope this helps. Hi Dante: Thank you for your suggestions. Unfortunately "xm" is not available on XCP servers. I tried "xe list" because "xe" is installed but got the message "Unknown command: list". Similarly, xend doesn''t seem to be installed: /var/log/xen is empty. My guess is that your suggestions are for "Xen Hypervisor" not XCP. Do you know what the analogous commands are for XCP? Try using "xe help" to get a list of everything the xe command can do. There is no list param, but there are several different parameters for doing different types of lists. For example, vm-list lists the virtual machines, host-list lists the hosts in the pool, and sr-list lists the storage repositories available by the host. -----Original Message----- From: xen-users-bounces@lists.xensource.com [mailto:xen-users-bounces@lists.xensource.com] On Behalf Of Joe Linoff Sent: Wednesday, December 01, 2010 3:55 PM To: Dante Cinco Cc: xen-users@lists.xensource.com Subject: RE: [Xen-users] Re: XCP 0.5 - dom0 vcpus/RAM settings not working Hi Dante: Thank you for your suggestions. Hi: "xe help" and "xe help --all" print out a lot of commands. For example "xe help --all | grep list | wc -l" shows 46 lines worth of list commands (perhaps more if there is more than one command per line) without any documentation. I didn''t see any that talked about dom0 although some referred to host. Where can I find documentation about the commands? I am happy to look in source code if that is the best place.
