Hi , There is some tips for avoid a virtual machine (domU) down Dom0. My xen Dom0 restart when one virtual machine have much stress (CPU) , is possible configure XEN for isolate a virtual machine ? What dom0/Xen combination are you using? RHEL/Centos5 with its bundled Xen version have been rock solid. If you''re using a distro-bundled Xen, you should file a bug to the distro maintainer. If you''re using a new version of Xen (4.0.x) you should gather as much detail (like the console log when dom0 crash/restarted) and report it to xen-devel. -- Fajar _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

If a virtual machine is stressing the CPU too much, it might overheat and the system crashes because of that. I''ve had, in the past, serious overheating issues with computers that led to weird errors. When this happens next, check the temperature of the CPU and other components in the computer. -- Joost _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users
I have used Centos 5.2 64 bits and XEN 3.0.3 , how I can get log like the console log when dom0 crash/restarted ? On Mon, Aug 30, 2010 at 6:47 PM, Fajar A. I have my doubt because yesterday I did test stress (CPU and Read disk) on two virtual machine (Windows server 2003) , the CPU of two virtual machine goes to 100% , the virtual machine doesn''t restart and Dom0 doesn''t down but I see that my server stop recognize total memory server that is 8 GB , the server have recognized only 4 GB. I think when server recognize 8 GB, the server be maybe unstable , because since the memory is 4 GB the server doesn''t restart anymore. On Tue, Aug 31, 2010 at 4:02 AM, J. I have RHEL5 running on servers with 64GB memory just fine. Note that "recognize" here should be what it shown on "xm info", and NOT what is used by dom0 (e.g shown via "free" or "top"). Anyway, Centos 5.2 is old, and known to have some bugs fixed in later version. Upgrade to 5.5 (or just do a "yum upgrade", and reboot choosing the correct kernel later). Next, see http://wiki.xensource.com/xenwiki/XenBestPractices, start with the first suggestion, and see what happens. -- Fajar _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users
Thank very much , using xm info I see my server have 8 GB , I was wrong !!! Do you know some tool for debug XEN ? On Tue, Aug 31, 2010 at 10:39 AM, Fajar A. Really sounds like you just have hardware issues. Burn a copy of this and leave it running for at last 24 hours, it seems to work quite well for thrashing hardware: http://www.advancedclustering.com/software/breakin.html - Nathan On 8/31/2010 12:01 PM, Bruno Steven wrote:> Thank very much , using xm info I see my server have 8 GB , I was > wrong !!! > > Do you know some tool for debug XEN ? > > > On Tue, Aug 31, 2010 at 10:39 AM, Fajar A. Start with making sure your system is up-to-date. Seriously. If you have problems updating everything (slow internet connections, etc.) then at least do a "yum install kernel-xen xen glibc" to make sure that at least those packages are up-to-date -- Fajar _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users
