Though I hate to follow up on my own questions, I have found a
work-around that will let me boot a domU with networking (though I had
to manually add the dom0 eth0 interface to the xenbr0 bridge).
I basically just checked for /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf (which I believe
is Slackware specific), and set ifup and ifdown to true.
Not pretty, but will work for now as I learn...
