Xen devel - Dec 2006 - xen 3.0.4 freezing and crashing dom0 when starting hvm domu

Hi,
When trying out the brand new xen 3.0.4 release from mercurial I
experience dom0 freezes and reboots  when starting a hvm domU on a
system where previously xen 3.0.3 (from xensource binaries, built from
sources, and the debian packages) worked perfectly in hvm mode.

Are there any obvious things that could lead to such an effect, for
example config changes, new build dependencies, anything? ( For the vm
config, I tried with an old vm config file, and also with one from the
3.0.3 release examples).

Is there any chance that I can get some debugging info from the system?

Build and dom0 system is Debian etch, hardware is a Thinkpad T60

I''m seeing right the same issues here but had not time to track it down
yet.
For me (and a win2003-domain) it helped switching off "apic" for this
domain.

Thanks, but it doesn''t help...
I tried setting acpi=0 and apic=0 for the domU (windows xp), but still
trhe whole system crashes when starting it.

Anything I can do to get some debugging info in this situation?

Hi , 

i realized a very similar behavior today. in my case the whole System 
crash while do a reboot an Windows HVM domain. as long as i shutdown and 
start it works fine, but when i choose to restart from the Start menu my 
Xen Host freezes and reboots.

Actually our reproduction on xen-unstable appears to be an
-unstable-specific issue that is now fixed, but does not apply to 3.0.4. We
cannot reproduce the reboot problem with latest xen-3.0.4-testing.hg bits
(which we are about to release as 3.0.4-1).

If you can reproduce this bug with xen-3.0.4-testing.hg then please do open
a bug report.

The problem seems not to exist anymore with the tip of 3.0.4-testing
and the binary release.
