Xen devel - Oct 2006 - [XenPPC] RFC: PowerPC and VIO

Well, we''ve had some success good success with VIO on PowerPC.  We  
have had to reintroduce some "P2V-like" stuff to get it going,  
because the PowerPC is a very different beast WRT grant tables.  Now  
that I understand it a little better I think we can re-work to remove  
some of the hacks we put in.

Immediate questions do come to mind:
   Why do we return the MFN on a GNTTABOP_map_grant_ref?
   Shouldn''t that all be hidden?
   I use it now, but can I depend on it in the future?

I''ll have more to discuss soon as I have more code.

It''s the *dev* *bus* *addr*. The one you program into your
device''s DMA
engine. We can''t hide that. Yes, in future it will not necessarily be
the
MFN (as would be seen on the FSB) as the device bus will be in a different
address-translation space.
