We provide DomU''s for our customers and because of this we try to minimize the amount of times we have to reboot/down a host. We also offer multiple kernels the customer can choose from with different configurations. My question is will there be any issue with running newer domU kernels from 3.x changeset while hypervisor and dom0 run a kernel build from a older 3.x changeset? Also how about the xen-tools? If i build a newer version of those and run them against a older version of hypervisor and dom0 is that going to be asking for problems? -- ~Shaun _______________________________________________ Xen-devel mailing list Xen-devel@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-devel
Unfortunately, I think you are likely to have issues here. You may have luck having things at least work for basic functionality, but you definitely need to match the hypervisor and dom0 kernel w/ the tools. IMHO, it''s a snafu to upgrade para-virtualized domU kernels that needs to be addressed better. Peace. We already guarantee the other way round since 3.0.0. -- Keir _______________________________________________ Xen-devel mailing list Xen-devel@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-devel
