Wine's DOS emulation needs lot of work.... (It also seem that a file is missing, which seem to point to something else breaking the loading of the DOS subsystem BEFORE Wine's DOS breaks it though...? (Someone better with reading Wine logs than me should probably correct me...)) Another note, which might make all the above irrelevant. It seems to be a Windows game, if this wikipedia page is correct... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heroes_of_Annihilated_Empires For 3D games, please post your graphics card, graphics card driver version. Also check out the AppDb page: http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=5251 Gert
It' is a windows game, yes. I have already looks on appdb, but they don't speak of this error. My graphic card is a Nvidia 8600M GT, driver version 180. I have see on this site (I don't remember where exactly) that winedos.dll is use by wine for application using win16 API....
Yes, I have try (tried ???) with and without the patch, I have the same error.
I have reinstalled the game, and reapply the patch, I have the same error. The game has a starforce protection, which cannot be work with wine (it crash when installing this protection, at the first launch). So I have to use a crack, unfortunately. It can be this which cause this error ? (I hope you can understand what I write)

(Not sure if you tried that yet...) The download sites for cracks are dodgy and they are probably illegal to use / download, depending on your country...
Hm, I think I haven't correctly said what I want. Without no-cd, I can't use it, because starforce can't be install (it makes me some error), and with no-cd, I have this error (apparently, we can't use application with starforce protection without a no-cd). I know crack are illegal, but sometimes DRM are so strong we can't use the software (under windows or linux), so the unique solution in this case is a crack.
