Hi Everybody, Trying to think ahead . . . The hMail server has a number of prerequisites which include: Microsoft's MDAC, JET & .NET Does anybody know if/how these can be met by WINE? Regards, Martin

Install them with winetricks. http://wiki.winehq.org/winetricks Also make sure you are using a recent version of like wine-1.1.29 and not 1.0.X. John

But why are you installin a windows mailserver on a unix OS? Just use a native mailserver... -- -Austin
Hi Austin, Oh. . . . . I wish I could! I've been trying for months. Every which way I turn seems to be too difficult for me to resolve! Dovecote, postfix, sendmail - I've tried them all. Linux variants, brand versions, iffy patches, old, out-of-date web posts and documentation - doesn't it just add up to barrel 'o fun? I'd even pay - if I could find someone who knew what they were talking about! The nearest I have got to a working SMTP server, accepted mail but then spat them back out again because I did not have an LDAP sever that mail could be authenticated against. And LDAP - what a nightmare! All I wanted was a small integrated POP/SMTP/DB server that I can use for half-a-dozen local users. Just like my lovely cuddly hMail that I've been using for years. Regards, Martin (and any ideas will be more than welcome!)
Hi Martin, Yes, I'd be more than happy to continue this discussion offline. How do we make contact? I don't know my way around this forum very well, so can't see a way to mail you. So if you do have some time, if you select the Private Message against my profile, it may get to me? Regards, Martin Oh - and thank you for the information offered so far. It's given me lots to think about.
