[Wine] Problems loading iTunes 8.2 despite dbase advising so
So far no matter what I try I am unable to load iTunes. I have the following : Asus Laptop running Ubuntu 9.04 ? 2.6.28-15 i686 Intel Dual Core T2390 1.86Ghz; Intel GMA x 3100 graphics, 1GB RAM. and have been attempting to download iTunes via Wine using version 1.1.28. Having looked at the database iTunes 8.2 is shown on the top 10 silver list and is stated as running OK. I however have attempted to load iTunes without it working. I keep being informed initially that it downloaded but then receive the following error message : "Itunes was not properly installed. If you wish to import or burn CDs, you need to reinstall iTunes." obviously I am going somewhere wrong but am too new to Ubuntu and Wine to know where. I have tried both offerings of the iTunes download but in each instance I get the error. I am keen to see if I can get iTunes to work but keep getting frustrated. Can someone please offer instruction in this matter ?

Study the individual test reports and howtos to get any useful information.

[Wine] Re: Problems loading iTunes 8.2 despite dbase advising so
dimesio Can you please clarify your remark about native browser and then run it in Wine. Is is not that the function of Wine is to run programmes that run in Windows by providing a platform to let them run within a Linux OS ? As I stated this is something new to me but as I am determined to leave Windows behind I want to follow this through. According to the report by Philipp Weissenbacher it worked for him and on that basis I was prepared to see what it could offer for me. I have been messing about with iTunes since I originally posted and find that it appears to accept preference changes that will let me sort material into audio books. That looks promising but there are times when a box appears advising that a fatal error occurred and everything goes black. If you would be as kind as to guide me regarding the browser use it will be appreciated. Thanking you for your kind assistance.
