[Wine] Only partial installation? Context menu items missing :-(
Hi! I am very new to Ubuntu and thus also Wine. I installed, uninstalled and re-installed Wine a couple times while trying out Wine and some third-party apps like Wine-Doors. Now my trouble is... I just installed 1.1.16, but my context menu entry for Wine is missing. Moreover, when I now select "Open with other Application" from the context menu for a Windows app, Wine is not in the list. The Uninstaller isn't working either: when I select "Uninstall Wine Software", I get an error window saying "Could not launch menu item - failed to execute child process "uninstaller" (No such file or directory)". Also, I hear there's a browser called Konqueror that comes with Wine, right? I don't have it :-( Anybody have any ideas what I'm missing? I effectively cannot use Wine at the moment. Thanks! Matthias.

You can remove things manually by following the directions here: http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#head-9893ae50079ca7a959258f0bc9a17aaf2e69b391 Konqueror is a native Linux browser that comes with KDE. It has nothing to do with Wine.

Try removing ~/.wine if not. -- -Austin

[Wine] Re: Only partial installation? Context menu items missing :-(
Hi guys, yeah, I already tried a clean uninstall removing everything wine-related according to the instructions in the documentation, then re-installed - same results. I just installed Irfan View 4.23 from the terminal, installer worked fine, but then Irfan View is nowhere to be found in my applications or Wine menu, and when I try to run it from the terminal, it doesn't work - nothing at all happens :-( The crazy thing is, this worked perfectly fine at some point. I just uninstalled Wine and tried some other stuff because I couldn't get another one of my fave Windows apps to run, and now everything is screwed up.
