wine users - Jul 2008 - Problems with sound and video when running team fortress

I am using version 1.0, and when I try to start team fortress 2, the loading and
menu screen are all skewed and messed up, and the sound just loops over and
over. Then when I quit, my screen resolution does not revert to what it's
supposed to be.

Does anyone have an idea on how to fix this?

What video card and driver version?
Have you disabled compiz, pulse audio and in-game steam community?
