Im trying out Ubuntu (8.04) and thought Id give wine(0.9.59) a bit of a try, I gave RON a try and I keep hitting the error below when trying to start installation (i basically get nothing no spalsh screen nothing :( ), this was after I had the preloader bug bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12516#c8, which the work around fixed and I was able to install starcraft/broodwars okay as a test (runs well). To perform a proper test (I was worried it might be my computer hardware/videocard) I grabbed an old 3gig hard drive and stuck Ubuntu 7.10 + updates and Wine 0.9.46 onto it and tried to run RON installer it ran perfectly with no preloader bug and I was greeted with the RON installation screen. Any help anyone could provide on possible fixes for the below error would be much appreciated, I:l go off and try and figure out how to compile wine 0.9.60 to see if that fix[ the problem. wine .60 has come through the repository and installing RON has worked, the intro and menu screens appear black but that might be my pc... I:l keep trying
Got the menu[ etc to run on UB710+Wine0958, although the game did not want to load, got the loading screen okay and the progress bar moved up to the top then sat their? I may have not waited long enough seemed to be very slow or it could be the ati vid card I have?.
