http://www.slashdev.ca/2008/03/27/blackberry-simulator-in-linux-sort-of/ says the blackberry simulator kind of works in wine. It's freely downloadable from http://na.blackberry.com/eng/developers/downloads/simulators.jsp in case anyone wants to triage the bugs...
When I try to run the simulator in wine I get: err:bitmap:DIB_GetBitmapInfo (44): unknown/wrong size for header err:seh:setup_exception stack overflow 24 bytes in thread 0009 eip 7eddd84f esp 00240fe8 stack 0?241000-0?350000 Wine failed with return code 1 The image of the 8703e does appear but I get a ?Division by zero? error and a Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library error of ?This application has requested the Runtime to terminate in an unusual way.? I figure we are close. Also, I would need to run MDS. Any ideas how? I?m running wine-0.9.25 / debian / gnome and BlackBerry device simulator 4.1.0.359.

I submitted the Blackberry simulator to the database (and a note about the MDS). Thanks for the heads up.
The web app said it would require approval so I doubt I can provide a link until then.
Here is the link to the application in the Wine db: http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=11438&iTestingId=22996
