Wine changes dozens of files to run properly.
Last week a user couldnt login anymore his Windows XP after doing that.
Btw, as you say world of warcraft doesnt use registry and is well known to work
on wine too
by copying the whole directory.
I suggest you to do that.
Its just a few megabytes of disk space versus a possibly unusable windows xp.
