On a fresh gutsy install with wine 0.9.55, I have experienced some problems with
Cups-pdf :
Adding a PDF printer to the system then trying to use any kind of wine apps

Renaming spool folder (if it exists) winspool.dll and spoolss.dll should bypass
and avoid the problem. I don't really think it is a wine bug, it's more
likely I've messed up my wine install, but maybe it could help others ...
Did anyone experienced this kind of trouble ?
