[Wine] "Failed to open the service control manager" -- is it OK?
I'm trying to use WINE on openSuSE 10.2. I used it before on SuSE 10.0, do no remember what version was it, but I used WineTools to configure it (I actually need only IE). Now I'm trying version wine-0.9.27 SuSE RPM, from winehq site. I understood that winetools should not be used anymore (I actually tried it with wine-0.9.24 from openSuSE 10.2 without too much success). Now, the first strange thing I see is that when I'm running wineprefixcreate, I'm getting this "Failed to open the service control manager" message when the script tries to issue "wine rundll32.exe setupapi.dll,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 128 wine.inf". But when after that I'm issuing the same command manually, it works OK. Is it a symptom of something wrong, or can I just ignore it and continue experimenting (I still fail to run IE)? Thanks, Mark

No idea why, but it has been like this for many versions, and seemingly is harmless.> Is it a symptom of something wrong, or can I just ignore it and > continue experimenting (I still fail to run IE)?If you _really_ want IE, have a look at ies4linux Daniel -- Before you post: Read the Wine User Guide http://winehq.org/site/docs/wineusr-guide/index When you post: Which wine version? Self compiled or prepackaged?
