Hi, I'm trying to run a third party M$-ACCESS application in wine (0.9.26 on kubuntu). The app installs fine, but yields an error when reading the ACCESS database (tried in win98 and win2000 mode). Any hints? Any FAQ or dedicated page? In particular, I've read about using original M$-DLLs in wine for ACCESS support. Would this possibly solve the problem? If yes, which win version and which DLLs should I use? What should I do to install them? Yours, Frank

Windows 2000 as the source is probably the best choice, but XP and 2003 should be viable alternatives. What DLLs to use depends on which DLL is causing the problem and can only be found out by experimenting. Copy the DLLs to the folder that contains the executable of your application and add one or more DLL override for this .exe in winecfg. Hi Duane, the application is a special vocabulary trainer with German language interface, newly installed from scratch to an empty .wine dir. The app is somewhat outdated and runs fine on a native Win98 system. The app starts and runs up to a screen for selecting input or query. Input of new vocabulary works fine. In administration mode, newly input data is shown to be in the database. When selecting query the app yields a message "Data type mismatch in criteria expression" (message in English, though presumably not from the app itself) and refuses to show the database contents. (Yes, the data is formally correct. ;-) Frank Duane Clark wrote 06.12.2006 22:20:> What kind of messages are you getting that indicate the problem is in > reading the access database?
