I have a Toshiba laptop that came with Windows XP and OneNote installed. I then installed Ubuntu Dapper Drake and am dual-booting the system. I want to run OneNote on Ubuntu with WINE. Obviously I could set up WINE to use the dual-booting native DLLs (but I don't know how to do that), and I can't install OneNote directly on Ubuntu with WINE because while I have a legal copy of the full version, I only have a restore disc, not an install disc. With the Windows partition (NTFS) mounted I can browse to the folder where ONENOTE.EXE resides, and run 'wine ONENOTE.EXE'. The following is output to the terminal: fixme:actctx:QueryActCtxW stub! and the following dialog comes up (this is a complete screenshot) : <http://aycu30.webshots.com/image/5349/2005597393989003300_rs.jpg> Any ideas how I can get this working for me? Thanks, Singpolyma
My NTFS partition is now set up read/write... now I get this: fixme:advapi:CheckTokenMembership ((nil) 0x7fd5cd08 0x7fb9fd4c) stub! fixme:advapi:CheckTokenMembership ((nil) 0x7fd5cd08 0x7fb9fd4c) stub! fixme:nls:GetUserGeoID 16 fixme:actctx:QueryActCtxW stub! fixme:actctx:QueryActCtxW stub! fixme:win:EnumDisplayDevicesW ((null),0,0x7fb9f4f8,0x00000000), stub! I removed all of my attempts at making WINE use native DLLs and just put it back to the defaults (no overrides in libraries tab). I now get a OneNote splash, then an error saying no Sections found. Click OK, it says that General.one is corrupt and needs repair. Click Yes, OneNote closes. Start it again, it says repair failed, start anyway? Hit Yes, it crashes. Now, why OneNote would want to do that, I have no idea. Have you searched appdb.winehq.org for entries on OneNote? Daniel
I discovered winecfg and re-mapped my C: to /media/hda1 (the NTFS partition)... I now get this and no GUI output: fixme:advapi:CheckTokenMembership ((nil) 0x7fd5cd08 0x7fb9fd4c) stub! fixme:advapi:CheckTokenMembership ((nil) 0x7fd5cd08 0x7fb9fd4c) stub! fixme:nls:GetUserGeoID 16 err:shell:SHGetFolderPathW Failed to create directory 'L"c:\\windows\\profiles\\singpolyma\\Local Settings\\Application Data"'. fixme:actctx:QueryActCtxW stub! fixme:actctx:QueryActCtxW stub! fixme:win:EnumDisplayDevicesW ((null),0,0x7fb9f4f8,0x00000000), stub! fixme:actctx:QueryActCtxW stub! err:shell:SHGetFolderPathW Failed to create directory 'L"c:\\windows\\profiles\\singpolyma\\Application Data"'. fixme:ole:CoRegisterMessageFilter stub fixme:system:SystemParametersInfoW Unimplemented action: 4158 (SPI_GETUIEFFECTS)fixme:system:SystemParametersInfoW Unimplemented action: 4158 (SPI_GETUIEFFECTS)err:shell:SHGetFolderPathW Failed to create directory 'L"c:\\windows\\profiles\\singpolyma\\Local Settings\\Application Data"'. It looks like it's trying to write to the NTFS partition too (which I've heard is dangerous...) Singpolyma wrote:> I have a Toshiba laptop that came with Windows XP and OneNote > installed. Oh, I just found out my NTFS is mounted read-only... will try to get around it, but any ideas would be more than welcome -- I'm new at this Singpolyma wrote:> I have a Toshiba laptop that came with Windows XP and OneNote > installed.
