I dual boot WinXP and Fedora Linux and would like to run Agent 3.3 when I boot to Fedora. Has anyone successfully installed WINE (codeweavers?) on Linux and gotten the current Agent to function? What has your experience been? What problems have you encountered? I've seen very little discussion in the newsgroup. The web page that Mark Prince pointed to a few years ago is no longer active: On Wed, 31 Jul 2002 15:44:10 GMT, Mark Prince <agentsupport@forteinc.com> wrote: We've got a link on the Forte website to a site created by an Agent user. It provides step by step directions for configuring Agent with WINE. Other users have said it is a very helpful site... It's in our Support Section, but here's the link.... http://www.oliversampson.com/computer/#Agent Thanks! Dan

But if you don't get that, you might be interested (if you don't already know) in the fact that Pan from pan.rebelbase.com, has been getting updates again. Maybe it would do what you want without the detour through M$. -- Beartooth Staffwright, Wordcrafty Squirreler, Neo- Redneck Retiree, Not Quite Clueless Power User

How well it runs under the free version of Wine depends on which distro and version of Wine. Possibly phases of the moon too:)>What problems have you encountered?Agent 3.x under older Wine or CXO versions requires one small tweak (To Wine not Agent) that 1.x and 2.x did not. CXO 5.0 and Wine back at least a year already work with 3.x (The combination listed in my sig does need this minor, but non intuitive, .dll.so swap) I have found that Agent runs slightly faster and with fewer problems on a fake Windows partition. Will work in a dual boot... I just never go "there" anymore. -- William Mandriva 10.2 linux, Cross Over Office 4.0, Athlon XP 1800+, 1533MHz, 1 GB RAM

It seems to work just fine. I am trying to figure out one thing though: How can I launch attached files like pics or mp3s from within agent while running inside openoffice or wine? I'd like agent to use one of my linix apps to open pics, for example, (I like gwenview), but I can't seem to make that work. In Windows, I'm used to double-clicking on attachments within Agent and having them open. If I can get this functionality in agent under wine or crossover, it'll be good riddance Bill gates :) Any help would be appreciated.
