Mappery breakthrough : Garmin topo, vista, rino, under linux & CXO
As most of you know, I've been trying to make GPSs and topo
maps usable under Fedora Core 4 linux, using CrossoverOfficePro (CXO)
5.0.1.
I've belabored nine or ten specialized lists for six or eight
weeks, parcelling out pieces of the problem wherever I hoped they
might arouse interest and knowledge. I've gotten invaluable help and
encouragement from all of them, on the lists and under them, and from
a few pe...

VDQ : Have I made a wine's nest?
...ords,
I have to ask myself a Falstaffian question: "Which .wine, Bezonian?"
Let me expound.
On several lists for different parts of the problem, according to their
interest and my best judgment, I've been pursuing the topic of GPS/topo
map settings, under Crossover Office Pro 5.0.1 (CXO) using Fedora Core 4,
trying to get a couple of suites of proprietary map software to
communicate with a GPS -- most recently on grc.techtalk.linux from
news.grc.com, since that's where the interest seems to be at the present
stage.
I've made it as far as getting Garmin MapSource Topo 3.0...

reasons for using CentOS in business environments
...e used a little of everything out there
(Gentoo/Debian/*BSD/Slackware) and have a fairly good overall strategy
of how they all work (all of them have lived on my laptop at one time
or another over the last 10 years or so), but I'm now looking for
solid business reasons that I can present to the CxO types of a
company to show them that CentOS is probably where they'd like to
look.
Reasons thus far I've come up with include:
--free *and* "fully" (at least, in my experience) compatible with RHEL
--fairly stable (I don't have problems unless I start mixing repos)
--yum pac...

CrossOver Linux Vs. Wine
Sorry to bother, but I can?t understand a lot of your double standards ...
On the one hand develop a proprietary product "CrossOver Linux", but at the same time cooperating with the project "Wine" that's free.
Wine could be today better than CrossOver Linux, but who knows, perhaps you are sabotaging and delaying the Wine project.
I Don?t understand why you don?t develop

...a browser and a flash plug-in, both of which I have. I
also tried KM under CrossOver Office and it works 100%, so I'm hoping I
can tweak something to get it working 100% under Wine. I think that when
KM is running under Wine it doesn't know where the browser and flash
plug-in are, whereas CXO has a configuration panel where I can set paths
to both the browser and the plug-in. Does anybody have any suggestions
for how to get the preview functionality working in KM via Wine? Perhaps
by modifying a config file or some such? Do I need to install a
"Wine-centric" browser and pl...

Altering the match to '^[0-9][0-9]* VM\?' seems to have fixed the

Agent 3.3 on Linux?
I dual boot WinXP and Fedora Linux and would like to run Agent 3.3 when
I boot to Fedora. Has anyone successfully installed WINE (codeweavers?)
on Linux and gotten the current Agent to function? What has your
experience been? What problems have you encountered?
I've seen very little discussion in the newsgroup. The web page that
Mark Prince pointed to a few years ago is no longer active:

I've ordered a second model (EBay, $25) - one to install into the car,
and one to debug/test. It is possible to change some of the parameters
of the device, using a Windows program. I have another CXO host with
Windows on it that runs the Copeland Engineering software, with which I
can compare if necessary.
I expect it won't be hard to get this working with nut, and I'm happy
to do a bunch of legwork (commit credits!) in order to get this thing
working for my purposes - and I appre...

iTunes/WineTools - Status?
Hi,
I was just wondering what the status of iTunes under and standard
version of Wine is and whether any version of WineTools is yet set up
to install it? I visited the WineTools website but didn't find iTunes
on the supported software list. I understand that it runs under
Crossover Office but I tried and was not able to get it to work.
Thanks,
Mark

Copeland Engineering Dockmaster
Thank you - I have included the capture, and attached it here. USB is
new to me. I am a good sysadmin, but terrible programmer.
I was able to use the usbhid-dump utility using -e stream, the last
octet will report the state of the detected power (1/2 for ignition on,
3 for ignition off, 0 for powered-off). 4th one seems to be voltage, and
the 5th and 6th I believe are timers:

How to help improving Wine?
Hi,
I really did my best to understand how I can help improving Wine, but I did
not succed.
Well, everything started when I installed a win application on my Debian 3.1,
Wine 2004.07.16 deb (clean install, no dlls).
The application is ALOHA (http://www.epa.gov/ceppo/cameo/aloha.htm)
It's a free application from US-Environment Protection Agency used for
chemical emergency planning (I am an
