wine users - Apr 2004 - AoE not recon DDraw, Word hangs

I have Age of Conqueros, Age of Empires II(Age of Kings) and MsOffice 97 
installed on a Windows XP partition. I can't run Age of Conquerors in Wine 
because it "doesn't detect" Age of Empires. Also, I can't run
Age of
Empires II because it says "Could not initialize your graphics hardware. 
Make sure you graphics card and driver are compatible with DirectDraw". 
What can I do?? I really want to play AoE in Linux...

Also, Word 97 hangs during startup, without a reasonable explanation. 
Powerpoint runs, thoug.

I dont even have a log for word, because it obligates me to kill wine.

Use Linux!

AoE 2 works quite well in wine, at least the trial version. Try this: Get
wine-20040309 from
http://www.winehq.com/site/download
now install AoE and the Conqueros expansion directly on wine, using a fake
windows installation, don't rely on the files installed on the xp partition,
now
try running the game, all should be fine.

dpnhpast.dll.DirectPlayNATHelpCreate
This isn't a documented function, a google search only finds 2 links. This
is a
bad sign, it probably means that this won't work until someone decides to
reverse engineer the dll. In the mean time, if you have a windows license, try
using a native copy of dpnhpast.dll.
