wine users - Jan 2003 - Debian PPC 3.0.r1 - Wine 1-15-2003 compile errors

I cannot get a good compile using Debian 3.0 release 1 and Wine release 
1/15/2003. 

I need some help. I have installed all dependences nessary for a proper 
configure, make depend, and make but get this: 

[wineconsole.exe.spec.o] Error 1

then I get this lovely error next: 

[wineconsole] Error 2

before all this it says something about:
/tmp/cc01etnX.s:2028: Error: operand out of range (131089 not between -32768

call me crazy but do I not have enough space in my tmp directory to install or 
does wine not work with ppc linux's?

Did you try the deb-packages? You can find backports for woody on 
www.apt-get.org. (I don't know if there are PPC-Backports.)
