wine users - Apr 2001 - Running WINE as Root

How do I run WINE as user Root ?  When I start WINE it keeps
replying that I have to login as normal user, although the User's Guide
cites being able to run WINE as user Root (See section 3.3.2, Running
WINE as
Root).  I think I need a HOWTO for this one.

All my wine version I compiled had no problems to run with user root, some
windows-programs even required me to be root in order to get access to some
hardware components.
Which version of wine did you compile? On which OS?
