Hello, I am not great at figuring out compilation problems - usually I just curse and give up. Trying to compile Wine from binaries I get the following error, anyone knows what's wrong and can offer some help on how to get it to work? (the stuff at the top was cut out to save space) ----- make[2]: Leaving directory `/share/Emulators/wine-20010305/tools/specmaker' cd `dirname winebuild/__depend__` && make depend make[2]: Entering directory `/share/Emulators/wine-20010305/tools/winebuild' ../../tools/makedep -I. -I. -I../../include -I../../include -C. import.c main.c parser.c relay.c res16.c res32.c spec16.c spec32.c utils.c -C. make[2]: Leaving directory `/share/Emulators/wine-20010305/tools/winebuild' cd `dirname wmc/__depend__` && make depend make[2]: Entering directory `/share/Emulators/wine-20010305/tools/wmc' ../../tools/makedep -I. -I. -I../../include -I../../include -C. lang.c mcl.c utils.c wmc.c write.c mcy.y -C. make[2]: Leaving directory `/share/Emulators/wine-20010305/tools/wmc' cd `dirname wrc/__depend__` && make depend make[2]: Entering directory `/share/Emulators/wine-20010305/tools/wrc' yacc -bppy -ppp -d -t ./ppy.y make[2]: yacc: Command not found make[2]: *** [ppy.tab.c] Error 127 make[2]: Leaving directory `/share/Emulators/wine-20010305/tools/wrc' make[1]: *** [wrc/__depend__] Error 2 make[1]: Leaving directory `/share/Emulators/wine-20010305/tools' make: *** [tools/__depend__] Error 2 Compilation failed, aborting install. ----- Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Terence. P.S. - I forgot to say. I'm running Mandrake Linux 7.2 and, as far as I can remember, I did install most of the important Development tools. Is there a specific one or a library I need to get Wine compiled?

I don't think that there is, but it's possible there's a yacc-devel package, which you'd need.> P.S. - I forgot to say. Your distribution should provide a package for one of these. Then remove config.cache and configure wine again. -- Markus Kossmann markus.kossmann@inka.de

Is there a > specific one or a library I need to get Wine compiled? You need bison, or byacc. Mandrake 7.2 has an rpm for each. I use bison, but AFAICS byacc would also work. rm <wine>/config.cache and start over from ./configure. What do you mean, "compile Wine from binaries"??? Is that a mental typo? Oh, if you have installed the wine rpm, uninstall it before trying to install a newer one you built yourself. It will save you (and us) some trouble if you do.
